  • It goes without saying that an online search is the best way to find an experienced and capable English-Hindi translator. Try local search to find one near you.
  • Check for samples of work done by the English-Hindi translator, checking both the English passage and also the translated passage to know if it is done right.
  • Look for specialized service providers with expertise in translation. Educational qualifications may not be the best guide since someone proficient in English may not be that proficient in Hindi and vice versa.
  • You may find that online translators will do a good job in most cases. Most of these online translation tools are free but you will need to edit the translated document.

  • Do not proceed sentence by sentence. Read the entire paragraph. Understand what is meant to be conveyed to the reader and then proceed with translation of Hindi to English.
  • Literal translation must be avoided.
  • Look for idiomatic expressions and try to understand the meaning behind these and use appropriate equivalent English expressions.
  • Make sure you follow English grammar rules such as the sub-verb-object construction, which is different from that in Hindi.
  • If you cannot do it then engage a bilingual translator familiar with nuances of Hindi and English languages.
  • At a pinch you could use online translation tools but be informed that these may not translate the meaning of idioms and related usages but will give literal translations on which you will have to work to render the true meaning.

The common Hindi sentences that you get on most of the books and websites are wrong. Actually, none speaks like this. They just translate the sentences word to word from English and form Hindi sentences that nobody speaks in their day to day conversation.  A native speaker of Hindi even will not understand those artificial Hindi sentences. In  day to day conversation, nobody speaks like this.

Here, we are giving you some most common sentences in Hindi that people generally use in their day to day conversation.

    Hello

नमस्कार, Namastey or Namaskar is very formal. Elderly people greet by saying Ram-Ram. Generally people greet others by saying, “Kya Haal Hai”. It actually means “How are you?” but in practical, people greet us saying like this.

    Good Morning

Suprabhat. But nobody says Suprabhat in Hindi.

    Good Night

Practically, nobody says “Subhratri” in India.

Only when we try to translate from word to word, it becomes Suprabhat or Subharatri.

Whether it’s morning or evening, people greet us by askinh “Kya haal hai.”

Similarly, the following sentences are also rubbish. Nobody says like this in India. Here, we will give you the exact sentences that people use in India.

    आपका दोपहर का भोजन किया था?

    अब समय क्या है?

    इसकी क़ीमत क्या है?
